Dürer Rhinocerus
Print of the woodcut from Albrecht Dürer 1515
Albrecht Dürer has long inspired us with his excellent paintings in his
extremely good quality with regard to the execution of our paintings.
His statement:
“Then the art is truly in nature. Who can tear it out has it "
corresponds exactly to our credo of creating art work of the highest
precision and liveliness. At the beginning of 2020 we considered creating a “ Dürer Rhinocerus ” as a homage to Albrecht Dürer according to the aspects just mentioned, as the culmination of our artistic activity and also with regard to our “old” home Franconia. For the first time, we designed this bronze work of art with a completely new and unprecedented level of precision after printing for the famous woodcut from 1515. The design of the model alone took 460 hours. For example, the number of spines on the back of our bronze exactly matches the number of spines visible on the graphic - and not only this! In this context, there are also some elementary designs new to our sculpture, which in earlier versions (e. g. Rhinoceros sculptures by Salvadore Dali) were anatomically incorrect or not shown at all. In addition, some of Dali's rhinocerus sculptures are also insufficiently executed in terms of the casting technique.
Individual elements that can be clearly seen after the art print /
woodcut are reproduced in our work faithfully and in detail. We have
interpreted some of the structures that cannot be seen well or not at
all according to our anatomical experience, also with regard to the
Indian rhinos alive today, in such a way that they contribute to a good,
comprehensible and artistic overall picture. |

Harbour Seal Family in Bronze
Historic Harbour of Tönning (Schleswig-Holstein)
Harbour
Seals in Tönning? - up close???!
Yes, they really exist and can now also be touched! Since Saturday June
11, 2016, a family of harbour seals has been in Tönning in the area of
the historic port as a life-size group of sculptures in bronze. This
work of art, worked out down to the finest details, is a gift from the
association “Der Runde Tisch Tönning e. V.” to the city of Tönning to
mark its 60-year existence.
After the ceremonial unveiling and handover of the sculptures to the
mayor of Tönning, Mrs. Dorothe Klömmer by “Round Table Tönning e. V.”
director, Mr. Rolf Jungclaus the work of art was found impressive by all
visitors. Also, children now can be able to experience these “harbour
seals” up close at once. With subsequent studies on live animals together with research in the literature on size and habitus of seals we have created small plasticine clay models of a male, a female and a howler (21 cm, 20 cm and 12 cm). These models were used as templates for the designing the life-size models, 160 cm for the male, 150 cm for the female and 90 cm for the howler. These now large models formed the template for the raw bronze casts, which are made using the lost wax process. Furthermore, the raw bronzes see a dark marbled patina and black “eyes” for their “life-like” appearance. Many visitors have already experienced an exciting souvenir photo session.

PRAYING MANTIS
Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii
Artist´s acrylic and oil colours on canvas/wood board
140 x 140 cm, 56 x 56 inches
It is a special honor for me that when I take part in a competition for the first time, my painting out of 762 works submitted for the 2016 Art Prize of the Kulturstiftung der Sparkasse Karlsruhe along with 71 other works had been selected for the exhibition from March 7 to 23, 2016. |
Theme of the competition and the exhibition:
"Beautiful and bad paintings"
Jury of the competition:
Prof. Dr. Götz Adriani, director of Stiftung der Kunsthalle Tübingen
Dr. Brigitte Baumstark, director of Städtischen Galerie Karlsruhe
Prof. Erwin Gross, Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe
Prof. Dr. Pia Müller-Tamm, director of Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe
Artist´s acrylic and oil colours on canvas
120 x 80 cm, 48 x 32 inches
This painting with an impressive partial 3D effect is painted with
the best colors and self-developed painting media to achieve the
highest possible luminosity.
The grasshopper's head position, which is oriented to the side, is
based entirely on Picasso, as grasshoppers cannot turn their head to
the side in reality.
All in all, this work is completely idealized from the perspective,
as well as the beauty and habitus of this grasshopper, in the sense
of an artistic representation as a painting.
Information on the price of the painting is available on request. |

The exciting metallic effect of this painting cannot be shown here.
Depending on the incidence of light, this appears very impressive in
the original, as does the illusionistic 3D effect, especially of the
breathing openings and the structure of the wing covers. On the
occasion of exhibitions, for example, viewers of the painting
actually assumed the breathing openings were really deep holes and
checked the assumed 3D structures of the wing covers from the side
to see whether the painted structures were not realistic reliefs
after all.
